A new study out of Oxford, England showed that patients taking a low dose aspirin regimen for at least five years had at least a 34% reduction in cancer risk. Cancers affected are as diverse as brain, lung, prostate, and esophageal. Death from gastrointestinal cancers were reduced by as much as 54%. Because low dose aspirin therapy is not for everyone and can have adverse side effects, it is important to discuss any drug therapy with your primary care doctor.

Two U.S. companies are producing glasses that will switch from distance to near with the push of a button on the frames. South Florida golfers could use the distance setting when hitting the ball, then push a button to score their hole in one! Although currently expensive with a limited frame selection, the technology is expected to take off in the next several years.
A study published in the prestigious and Journal of Cataract Refractive Surgery evaluated reading performance and quality of life in patients receiving premium lens implants in both eyes. The study concluded that both reading performance and quality of life indices were positively effected.
